Hidden Heroes Emerging from the Shadows

Research Published Sep 24, 2024

The authors produced new estimates of the number of adults caregiving in the United States today; investigated how those caring for wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans compare with those caring for civilians and with non-caregivers; and share insights on the potential consequences of caregiving on caregivers' health, their economic security, and their families' well-being. They also propose recommendations to strengthen caregiver support.

Philanthropic Focus

Our Central Command Post, OCCP, is dedicated to supporting our incredible Hidden Heroes throughout North Carolina and nearby states.

We work to raise awareness about who Hidden Heroes are, the support they need, and why their role matters. By helping communities better understand Military and Veteran caregivers, we can build stronger networks of compassion, connection, and support.

Our philanthropic efforts include hosting annual summits and events that celebrate, connect, and uplift Hidden Heroes, while providing meaningful access to resources, education, and community.

We bring Awareness to Suicide & prevention, a vital focus on understanding, compassion, and support for those affected by suicide.

OCCP creates space for communities to come together, share resources, encourage open conversation, and foster hope.
